Week 8 Recap: Treehouse of Horror Edition

It was a frightening week of competition in the DFFL and the playoff race is in full swing. When taking a look at the standings, you truly realize that no one is safe! Due to the upcoming holiday, this Recap will have a slight theme to it. See if you can guess what it is.
On to the games! MUHWWAAAHAHAHAHAHA!
A close non-divisional game took place when Team Uncle Sloppy faced Mike's Crazy Bombers. Uncle Sloppy desperately needed to win this game to stay within at least 1 game of Nick in the Pants N'at Division. The elder gentleman emerged victorious over Mike's team 99 to 82. That is the second loss in a row for the Bombers. Are they on the verge of a late season collapse? After the win, Coach Sloppy was seen addressing his team...

Defensive Slugfest of the Week was a game featuring Stan's Steamers and the Green Day Tractors. The Steamers escaped with a 56 to 38 win. Both teams are currently 4-4 on the year. 38 points is pretty pitiful. Green Day Tractors wins Low Score of Week by a large margin. This weeks prize is...

A bag of candy corn. Whoever came up with this evil concoction should be forced to eat it all day, every day to see the pain that they've brought to children around the country every Halloween.

A Father/Son Game of the Week this week had Uncle Gary's Office vs. his eldest, Nick's Buyer Beware. This was a game that had two of the top teams in the DFFL face off. The Office made it look easy and reminded Nick who the man of the house was with a 93 to 56 drubbing. The Office got it done using the likes of Steve Slaton, a Kansas City wide-receiver, and some no name Saints receiver. That's like Jason in Friday the 13th. People keep trying to kill him, but he always manages to get up at the end. Well done.

Game of the Week goes to the matchup between Joe's Here Comes Treble and Molly's Stanley Nickels. Both teams put up respectable numbers but Joseph came out on top 77 to the Nickel's 74. The Nickels have been struggling a lot lately. Well, all of the Gallagher siblings have been struggling lately. Maybe poor fantasy football runs in the genes or something. By the way, Molly, were you at that Marshall/Houston game this week? I blame YOU for that cart breaking that poor guy's leg. You could have easily pushed that cart out of the way. And if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, just look up Marshall vs. Houston leg break on youtube. It's not pretty.

The first of two sibling matchups this week was Corey's Vandelay Industries vs. Emily's Dwight's Bobbleheads. Apparently, Emily did not get the memo that you're supposed to let the birthday boy win. The Bobbleheads won 64 to 51. Congratulations Em! You are tops among your brother and sister! The Gallagher Bragging Rights are yours! (until next season)

In the final Sibling Game of the Week, Garret's One T artans took on my The Adam Factor in a high-scoring offensive slugfest. Of course, Garret beat me 107 to 95. In what universe does Roddy Freakin White get you 23 points?! This universe, apparently! Oh well, I'm still sitting atop our division, which is all that matters right now. You may have won the battle, but not the war! Congratulations, for High Score of the Week you get...

A special Treehouse of Horror High Score of the Week Trophy. (This is what shows up when you type in "Halloween Trophy" in Google images.)

Congratulations to all the winners and better luck next time to the losers. Happy Halloween and good luck in Week 9!

Week 7 Recap

Week 7 was a high scoring affair with all but 1 team scoring 70 or more points. The competition is heating up and some of the divisions are shaping up. But everyone still remains playoff eligible.

On to the games!

The game of the week was a collegiate matchup between Dwight's Bobbleheads and One T artans. The final score was a close 77 - 74. Both teams faired well but Emily's team came out the victor. Emily is now the St. Louis Rams of the DFFL; their not great on paper but they can still beat you. That win is Emily's 2nd on the year and with the loss, One T falls behind 2 games in the Dahn Tahn Division.

The Green Day Tractors beat a struggling Team Uncle Sloppy this week 88 - 72. Sloppy is now 2 games back in the Pants N'at Division. Steven Jackson had a breakout game with 35 points leading the way for the Tractors. Some of you may be wondering why Uncle Jeff dropped Mewelde Moore last week when he was going to start for such a great running team like the Steelers. Well, he pressed the wrong button. Dad, John McCain could figure out ESPN's fantasy website. Our Commish took full advantage of this brain fart and picked up Moore who led Corey's team to a huge victory this week.

The Commish rose from the ashes this week with Mewelde Moore leading the way with 31 points in a 110 to 92 victory over Molly's Stanley Nickels. Both teams are now 2-5 on the year. Those 110 points were the High Score of the Week. Congratulations and for that you win...

This Mewelde Moore card!

I'm sure it'll be worth at least $5 some day. Which could go a long way if the markets continue to take. Think of this card as 100 shares of Microsoft stock in the 80's.

The Father - Son game of the Week was The Office vs. Mike's Crazy Bombers. Both teams are having excellent seasons and it was a close game. The Office must've spent more time at the office and pulled out a 79 to 72 win. Was this game a precursor to what we might see in the DFFL Championship Game? Only time will tell.

Joseph's Here Comes Treble faced his arch-nemesis Nick's Buyer Beware in the Battle of Mike's Least Favorite People. (Just kidding, I'm sure Michael has nothing but fond memories of these two.) Buyer Beware is having a stellar season and beat Joe 78 to 74. This was definitely a rivalry game and Nick promptly celebrated.

*All other facebook pictures were not suitable for children under the age of 65.

The second highest scorer of the week was Me, when The Factor beat Uncle Pat's Stanley's Steamers 97 to 51. Did anyone see that Lendale White touchdown run of 80 yards? The guy had a great game for someone who looked like they were playing with a refrigerator on their back. (He's really slow.) Not many people know that Lendale has a part-time job in a local Nashville mall as Santa Claus. The Steamers 51 points were the Low Score of the Week. Things are bad when your kicker is the highest scorer on your team. The prize this week is...

A $20 Bennigan's Gift Card! But due to recent struggling business, it is completely worthless.

Well, that's it for Week 7! It was a very competitive week and the season is half over. (Or half full if you're an optimist) Can you believe it? Have a great weekend!

Recap: Week 6

Here is your Week 6 synopsis in all its glory!
There were a lot of lopsided scores this week so let us begin with the first one:
The Me Factor got clobbered by Sloppy Joe's Here Comes Treble 84 to 45. (Do not confuse Sloppy Joe with Uncle Sloppy) That win puts Joseph back at .500 and broke my 3 game winning streak. Injuries and bye weeks suck.
The closest game this week was between The Steam and and Mike's Crazy Bombers. The Bombers won again 63 to 55. I don't even think I can call it the game of the week when the scoring was so low. Mike, you are soo lucky my friend. But hey, that's part of fantasy football. Much of it is about luck, just ask Corey.

Speaking of the Commish, his team took on Uncle Gary's Office and lost miserably 103 to 48. Vandelay Industries is now tied for last place in the DFFL. They are so bad, the U.S. Treasury is thinking about giving them a bailout. The Office is weathering this financial crisis with a strong record of 4-2 which ties them for 2nd place in the league. The Office also wins High Score of the Week. This week you receive...

One Schrute Buck. 1,000 Schrute Bucks are redeemable for 5 minutes extra on your lunch break. Don't spend it all in one place!

Low Score of the Week goes to Molly's Stanley Nickels who lost to the Green Day Tractors 79 to 35. The Nickels must have been celebrating the previous week's win over Emily and forgot to focus on the next opponent. Low Score of the Week gets you...

This Sarah Palin totebag! I'm not sure if it's big enough to carry around your moose carcass though.

In other games...

Buyer Beware beat One T artans 92 to 76. One T falls to 3-3 and Nick moves to 4-2. This season is a hotly contested one. It looks like playoff seedings will be determined the last week of the season.

And finally, congratulations to Emily for grabbing her first win this week against Team Uncle Sloppy. It was no fluke either. Dwight's Bobbleheads won 81 to 64. And just like that, she comes back into contention. There are no gimme games this season.

Good luck everyone in Week 7!

Recap: Week 5

Sorry for not posting last week! I was busy with work and Rock Band at home. The Week 5 synopsis will be short and sweet so here some key headlines from that toughly contested week:

The Crazy Bombers received their first beatdown of the year from yours truly. It was an 80 to 49 drubbing. Looks like there won't be an unbeaten team this year!

The Office squeezed out a win agains Green Day Tractors 78 to 77.

Another 1 point game was Team Sloppy beating Here Comes Treble 77 to 76.

Low Score of the Week goes to Uncle Pat's The Steam when they lost to Nick's Buyer Beware 70 to 48. But we're all winners here in the DFFL so your prize this week is...

This lovely flower arrangement for your front yard. It would make your house look more West Virgina-esqe.

High Score of the Week goes to One T artans when they beat Corey's Vandelay Industries 88 to 79. Poor Commish, he can't catch a break. That score would have won 4 out of the 6 games! Ouch. Congratulations Garret, you win...

Some new kilts to wear on non-gamedays! Very classy.

The last game of the week was the Sister-Sister Bowl.

Molly's Stanley Nickels beat Emily's Dwight's Bobbleheads 71 to 51. Congrats Molly on the big win! You are now granted bragging rights for 1 year.

The Week 6 Recap is on the way!

Week 4 Recap

Week 4 was an interesting week in the DFFL. The divisions are starting to take shape but everyone is still in contention. Week 4 was definitely a week where you could take a look at your record and possibly determine if you are playoff bound or if you'll be one of the spectators.

The Father vs. Son matchup for this week was Stan's Steamers taking on Vandelay Industries. This was a huge game and a must win for both teams. The Steamers slaughtered Vandelay Industries 82 to 59. I haven't seen someone get pummeled like that since the time that Katie Couric interviewed Sarah Palin.
She looked more confused than Garret making fantasy picks.

Ok, so there's my one political reference. Corey will give me crap about it and call me a hippie, oh well. On to more games!

2nd High Score of the week goes to Nick with a nice performance from Buyer Beware against The Green Day Tractors. He scored 103 points which was 2 points shy of the High Score. Sorry, Nick, you get nothing for Second Place. You are just the first loser. However, you did win your matchup, so that's nice.

The High Score of the Week goes to Mike's Crazy Bombers with 105 points over Molly's Stanley Nickels 82 points in the M&M Rivalry Game. (Mike and Molly, get it?) The Bombers are cruising this season and are off to a 4-0 start. Can he be stopped? Congrats Mike, for the High Score this week, you get...

a big bag of M&M's of course.

One T artans faced Joseph's Here Comes Treble this week. Treble won the gig 78 to 63. This was an important Dahn Tahn divisional matchup. Both teams are now .500 on the season and tied for 2nd place in the division. They are statistically better than the Pirates. Yeah, it's a comparison that makes absolutely no sense. I just want to point out how much the Pirates stink when One T and Joe are fielding better fantasy football teams than the Pirates Major League Baseball team.

Dwight's Bobbleheads took on The Adam Factor. The Adam Factor won 79 - 41, which unfortunately for the 2nd week in a row gives The Bobbleheads the Low Score of the Week. There is a valid excuse however. Emily was so confident in her starting tight end that she even started him on a bye week. It was an interesting strategy that did not pay off. Since Dwight's Bobblehead seems to be broken, the Low Score of the Week Award this week is...

a Pope Bobblehead! (Have faith! You'll get that first win soon!)

Game of the Week was Team Uncle Sloppy vs. The Office. There weren't a lot of close games this week. The Office won 80 to 71. Both teams are now 2-2. Leading The Office to victory was Drew Brees with a strong 25 point performance. (Too bad he wasn't like that for me last year.) My apologies to Sloppy for telling him to start Mendenhall when Le'Ron McClain gets 14 points. Even fantasy gurus get things wrong now and then.

That's all for Week 4, good luck to everyone in Week 5. Don't forget to update your roster in case one of your players has a bye week.
