Week 3 Recap (Yay!)

There were no 1-point games this week but there were plenty of close games. The cream is starting to rise to the top in the DFFL but remember, it is still early. One solid free agent pick up or a smart trade could put you back in the win column. On to the games!

Mike's Crazy Bombers faced Joe's Here Comes Treble in the Battle of the Little Brothers. It was the game of the week with a close score of 81 - 77. Mike edged out a win with the help of a healthy LT. Mike is undefeated so far this season. Could Stanley's Cup remain in the Hegeman household for a third straight year? Aunt Barb hopes not.
Team Uncle Sloppy took on Nick's Buyer Beware in a very important Pants N'at Divisional matchup. Uncle Sloppy won with a score of 75 - 67. Nick fell to 1-2 on the year and might need to make some trades if he wants to make up ground in the division.
Another close game this week was a Father vs. Daughter matchup with Molly's The Stanley Nickels facing Uncle Pat's Stan's Steamers. The Steamers pulled out the win 65 - 60 but you can't blame Molly for this one. She had the Patriots Defense and they got -7 points! Who would've thought that the Pats would've gotten rolled up by Miami? We all would've started Pats D last week. However, I did find enjoyment out of seeing Miami beat up New England with basic college QB option plays. Even the might Tartans could've put up a better fight!

High Score of the Week goes to The Office with his win over One T artans 95 - 83. Big turnaround for the The Office. They lost two games in a row and come out big in Week 3 with the high score. Watch out, here comes The Office, a consistently tough team every year. Congratulations Uncle Gary, for High Score you have won...

a Dundie!

Defensive Struggle of the Week was between the Green Day Tractors and Emily's Dwight's Bobbleheads. The Tractors squeezed out a win 56 - 48. Even though the Bobbleheads lost the game, they did win something...The Low Score of the Week Award! We have an award for the high score so not to leave everyone out, everyone is a winner here at the DFFL, we will have a weekly award for the lowest score. This week Emily wins...

a day-old stickie bun.

Ewww, gross!

Lastly, The Adam Factor took on Corey's Vandelay Industries in the Battle of Sig Hansen House. This was a huge game! To the winner: bragging rights for a week, to the loser: shame and humiliation for a lifetime. Of course, The Factor emerged victorious with a powerful score of 90 to a measley 69 points. Bad things happen when you start an Arizona running back. Is the gloating coming off too strong in this recap?

Have a good week everyone!

Week 2 Recap

Week 2 was an exciting week. There were close games, Hurricane Ike, cousins vs. cousins, father vs. son, and brother-in-law vs. brother-in-law. and cousin vs. computer. Plenty of intriguing storylines.
On to the games!
Game of the week goes to Uncle Pat's Steamers vs. Uncle Gary's The Office. The final score was 75-74 in favor of the Steamers. That is the second 1-point game this season in the DFFL and it's only Week 2! The Office is now 0-2 on the season but do not count them out. The Office's (tv show) season doesn't start until the 25th so think of this as their preseason.
Butler's finest took on the Commish in a close battle. Nick emerged with the 69 - 64 win with the solid play of Adrian Peterson and receiver DeSean Jackson. Good thing Nick didn't need that touchdown. DeSean has a history of celebrating a little prematurely:

That's the current Philly WR diving in the endzone during a high school all-star game. Oops!

Anyways, Mike's red hot Crazy Bombers took on Emily's Dwight's Bobbleheads in the Battle of the Freshmen! There was plenty of waiting in line in the cafeteria and staying up late in the common areas of the dorms in this matchup. (Cuz those are about the only things freshmen do.)

Did you guys read this pamphlet?

The Bombers won by a score of 85 - 78. Mike looks to be off to a good start at 2 -0 and Emily has yet to get a win at 0-2. Em, less studying, more managing your fantasy team.

This week's low score goes to Joseph Hegeman's Here Comes Treble with a losing score of 52. They took on the Green Day Tractors who won with a score of 78. It is really difficult to win games when your starters are everyone else's backups. If you can listen carefully you can almost hear Joe kicking himself over not starting Darren Sproles. Sorry Joe.

The Father vs. Son game of the week was between Team Uncle Sloppy and The Adam Factor. This was a close matchup going in but Sloppy pulled off the win with a score of 93 - 71. Team Sloppy won high score of the week with nearly every position putting up strong numbers for him. Congratulations to Team Uncle Sloppy. For the week's high score you win:

"This wonderful set of steak knives."

The final game for the week was the Battle of the College Sophomores. Wow, that's almost as exciting as the Friends of Coal Bowl. One T artans beat Molly's Stanley Nickels 89 - 63. One T is off to a good start and leads the division at 2-0 due to for once in his life, listening to the advice of his brother.

Well, that's it for a toughly contested Week 2. Good luck in Week 3 everyone!

Week 2 Preview

Been a rough week here at DFFL headquarters. We recently moved to new office space. This one has a pool, air hockey table, and pinball machine.

So the time has been slim, but here's a brief look at this week's upcoming games:

Vandelay Industries (The Commish) vs. Buyer Beware (Nick)

What a matchup we have here. The Oldest vs. the tallest. The working guy vs. the college guy. The best looking grandchild vs. Nick.

What to look for in this matchup? An unhealthy level of competition followed by beers.

------------------------------------

Stanley Steamers (Uncle P) vs. Uncle Gary (Uncle Gary)

Something has to give in this matchup of one-time greats. Both teams lost opening week, and are looking to regain their stride. Consider this the Notre Dame - Michigan game of the week.

------------------------------------

Emily Emily (Emily) vs. Crazy Bombers (Mike)

Emily hasn't even set up her account and gave Joseph all he could handle last week. Luckily, everyone in her Division lost, so these teams matchup as Division leaders.

The Freshman bowl will consist of lame frat parties, dinner at the dining hall, and actually waking up for your 8 am class. Don't worry, you'll get past that last part soon enough.

------------------------------------

Team Uncle Sloppy (Uncle Sloppy) vs. The Adam Factor (Adam)

Father vs. son. Clearly, team naming is heriditary. The rumor is that Uncle Sloppy is trying to sell Tony Romo a lawn care franchise so he'll stop playing football. He has to convince Jessica to go for it, first.

------------------------------------

One T artans (One-T) vs. The Stanley Nickels (Molly)

The Sophomore Bowl pits two worthy team names against one another. This bowl will consist of whining about living in the dorms, driving freshmen everywhere, and overall jadedness with classes.

------------------------------------

Here Comes Treble (Joseph) vs. Green Day Tractors (The Mazza's)

Joseph and the Mazza's square off in a very lopsided match. 4 on 1 seems like it would be pretty tough to handle. Luckily, he only needs to beat 3 to come in 2nd place.

------------------------------------

Good luck to all, and to all a good night!

Week 1 Synopsis

Johnstahn, PA: The DFFL was in full swing this past weekend with every team eager jump out of the gate with a Week 1 win. This week was all about finding out how well or how awful your draft was. (Or how well your sibling drafted for you.) On to the results!

The first matchup pitted The Adam Factor against Nick's team Buyer Beware. This was the "Spent Way Too Much Time Thinking About Their Lineup" Game. Both coaches spent countless hours studying film and evaluating statistics only to field two mediocre at best teams. There had to be a winner and the The Adam Factor emerged victorious with a final score of 64-57. The Factor did suffer a tough loss with a torn ACL to Nate Burleson that will surely hurt him down the road. (I definitely should've made that trade with Nick.)

In a close game, Team Uncle Sloppy took on the Commish's team Vandelay Industries. This was the second lowest scoring game of the week by 1 point. Guys, it's not like golf, you want high scores in fantasy football. Anyways, Sloppy took a huge kick to the groin when his starting QB Tom "Karma Sucks" Brady went down for the rest of the season. Good luck with Philip Rivers Uncle Sloppy! Vandelay Industries pulled out the win 60-50.

Ouch.

Game 3 was a battle between One T artans and Stanley's Steamers. I will say that One T's team name is clever and it seemed to help this weekend as he pulled out the win over Uncle Pat's Steamers. It also helped that One T's running backs both scored over 20 points for him this week. (You're welcome for the advice.)

Blowout of the week was the matchup between Molly's Stanley Nickel's and Uncle Gary's (Insert team name here). Uncle Gary scored a respectable 70 points but no match for the Nickel's whopping 129 points, which was tops in the DFFL. Her prize for high score is a free weekend stay at her cousin and brother's new place in lovely Falls Church, VA. Amenities include pool, jacuzzi, pinball machine, air hockey table, and a comfy couch to sleep on. *Cousin and brother are not responsible for sore back after sleeping on said couch.

Low score of the week goes to the Green Day Tractors who took on Mike's Crazy Bombers. The Bombers were victorious with a final score of 63 - 46. The upcoming season does not look good for the Tractors as they have 2 Rams, a Dolphin, and a Brown in their starting lineup. Ewww.

Game of the week goes to Joe's Here Comes Treble vs. Emily's (Insert team name here). The defending champ edged out a win 69 - 68. The champ needed a win to keep pace in the tough Dahn Tahn Division where all three team are tied for first place with one win a piece.

If you didn't win this week, don't feel bad. There is plenty of football left. At least that's what I kept telling myself last season.

Some reminders: If you haven't done so, come up with a team name or else you will be drawn and quartered. Not really, but please come up with one. We will be more than happy to suggest names. Also upload a team logo because it looks cool.

Good luck for Week 2!

That is all.
